Terry Yacyshen, the general manager who helped to build the Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa into an international destination, has been hired to do a similar job in the Okanagan. The former touring golf professional and a one-time associate pro at Royal Colwood is the new resort manager of The Rise, a boutique hotel, winery and beach resort built around a Fred Couples Signature Course west of Vernon. Yacyshen, a Calgary native, will manage the opening of the golf club this spring and oversee operations during its first year, says Leona Snider, president and chief executive of Okanagan Hills Development Corp.
BMO Bank of Montreal has appointed Denise Martineau manager of its Tsahaheh branch, located on Tseshaht First Nations territory near Port Alberni. Martineau, a member of the Frog Lake Cree Band near Calgary, has more than 20 years experience in the financial industry, the last decade with BMO, including assistant branch manager at Terminal Park in Nanaimo and financial services manager at the bank's Parksville branch. BMO has three full-service branches inside First Nations territories in B.C., including Squamish and Westbank.
