It’s an experience like no other, to see your dreams come true. This has been a long standing dream of mine.

On June 8th, Fred Couples visited the Signature Course at The Rise that bears his name. Together with course architect Gene Bates and builder Ian Renton, Fred inspected all 18 holes at the course overlooking Okanagan Lake.
The 1992 Masters Champion and two-time PGA player of the year has made a major contribution to the course. “There are aspects all through the design and construction that Fred provides so that I can turn it into a drawing, and then we can turn it into reality. He gives much more than people realize” said Gene Bates.
The most difficult question Fred was faced with all day was when he was asked to decide on a signature hole. “The first three holes are the best three holes I’ve ever played opening up a golf course. But 15 and 16, with the pond and the two greens it’s spectacular. But really the views are the signature. You can step up on a lot of tees and take pictures. You can do it on almost every tee.”
Fred was attracted to The Rise because of the great location. A Seattle native and past BC junior champion, Fred has a strong affinity for the Okanagan.
While the course can look intimidating, The Rise is designed for players of all levels. “It’s not a totally over-powering golf course, but you have to know what you’re doing and how to play.”
